Tucson
I am from Phoenix, and I have always found it interesting how others feel about Tucson. While first getting off of the freeway, the first view someone has consists of the "bum park" along with hardly any green scenery and crooked streetlights. I will never forget the first time that I visited Tucson for orientation. At the first streetlight that my mother and I stopped at, a seemingly homeless man came up to our window and began tapping on it asking if we could take him to purgatory. Both of us found this rather terrifying at the time. It is now my fourth year in Tucson and I do not find the mentally ill individuals roaming around the outside of my apartment frightening, it is just part of another day and at this point we have almost become buddies and say hi to one another each morning. I find the crooked and rugged scenery to be charming and I feel that it seems to give this city character. I have fallen in love with this city and whenever someone bashes it I find it a bit offensive and immediately stick up for this city and mention all of its positive qualities. I am unsure if I will be sticking around Tucson beginning in the fall, but all I know is this is my favorite place that I have lived and I will always love and respect this city.
