An Ode to Little Succulents

Oh, little succulent plant,
what are you little succulent plant?
Your leaves are full to bursting,
taut rubber pillows for my curious fingertips.
You fascinate me; you make me giggle.
You light my curiosity on fire with the torch of your rare blooms.
If I did not love you so, I think I might flatten you;
crush you like a blackberry,
just to see what secrets you hold in your pretty, puffy petals.
You are a plant from the lands of dinosaurs and dreams and magic.
Even my cats look at you, sunny eyes ablaze, wishing to swallow you whole.

Oh, little succulent plant,
what are you little succulent plant?
You are better than all the other plants,
and thus, I keep you on my breezy windowsill
and love you, love you, love you.
